Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) allows you to use multiple channels and tools to create a 1:1 marketing experience for your customers and subscribers. Chapter 5: Automating Your ETL and Data

Emails and other messaging options are cool and all, but without data, it's really nothing more than fancy words and pretty pictures. Data is integral when it comes to marketing. Without data, we do not have an audience to send to nor any idea who or what we should send. Although messaging and email automation may be the more popular aspects, this is mostly because no one thinks about the data part as it is not as fancy or shiny as the cool subject lines, emojis, images, or designs.

To that extent, in this chapter, we will be exploring all things related to automating data in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, with a focus on ETL and Automation Studio. We will dive into topics surrounding data, including introductions into what ETL means as well as specific activities inside Marketing Cloud that can allow us to automate our ETL and data processes.
