Using Quick Edit to bulk-edit list items

The Quick Edit view is a special view that is similar to Excel worksheets. In this recipe, we will see how to use Quick Edit to modify multiple list items. We will use the previously created Marketing Announcements list as an illustration for this recipe.

Getting ready

You will needContribute, Edit, Design, or Full Control permissions to the list to be able to bulk-edit items in it.

How to do it...

  1. Browse to the list for which you would like to bulk-edit the items.
  2. Click Quick Edit in the navigation bar.
If you are viewing a classic (and not a modern) list or if you are viewing a modern list in the classic view, you will see the Edit this list menu option instead of the Quick Edit option. Both options eventually work the same way.
