Managing data growth

In the CDS, storage is a premium resource. Each tenant has a capacity allowance for the CDS, shared between the environments. Capacity is calculated from the number and type of licenses purchased. You can buy additional storage allowance if you exceed the capacity.

Additional storage is expensive and so you must monitor your storage use and take steps to reduce the storage used. You can monitor the capacity from within the Power Platform admin center, as shown in the following screenshot:

The preceding capacity report shows that the storage used exceeds the capacity allowance from licenses. To bring this tenant back into compliance, the organization will have to do one of the following:

  • Purchase additional capacity.
  • Use bulk delete to reduce the amount of data.

As we know that purchasing additional capacity is an expensive option, we will look at how to use the bulk delete feature.
