Optimizing pings to third-party services

Pinging is a built-in feature in WordPress that allows you to notify search engines about the new content or updates on your site. There are several free ping services that allow you to notify other search engines about the updates on your site content. Ping-o-matic is the service supported by default in WordPress.

Pinging could improve and increase the chances of search engines indexing your content quickly. However, too many pings for the same content within a very short time frame can tag your site as a ping spammer. Therefore, we have to optimize pings and avoid unnecessary ping requests.

In this recipe, we are going to use a free plugin to configure the settings for pinging and only allow necessary pings without creating spam.
