Emerging Innovation Spaces

Discussions of the role of innovation in the context of cloud adoption can go in many directions. You could talk, for example, about how cloud technology itself is an innovation, but for most of our customers, the need for innovation goes beyond the cloud. In many circumstances innovation is needed to determine how to use the cloud to fulfill a business need, especially in industries in which new technologies and ideas are disrupting the status quo. Discovering how new technologies and ideas can drive you to the cloud and solve business needs within a cloud and industry context is the next subject we will examine.

In this chapter, we discuss emerging innovation spaces. We begin the discussion by examining how innovation is a business driver and then give examples of several technology innovations, including data, analytics, cognitive, containers, and IOT.
