Methodology

A software methodology is something that sounds much more impressive than it is. A methodology is nothing more than a description of the guiding principles and set of steps that a team follows in developing a system. Every development team of every size follows some methodology, even if it is ad-hoc.

What we will introduce in this chapter is the lightweight software development methodology developed by the IBM Cloud Garage that we have successfully applied in dozens of client engagements, both large and small that we specifically built for guiding cloud-native development projects. We will discuss how our method came about, what practices the method contains, and provide examples and explanations of how those practices fit together into a cohesive whole.
