Often, naming conventions are used to help identify attributes of a resource, but Azure has a more direct and preferred option: tags. Tags are available for nearly every type of Azure resource at:

Tags are name/value pairs with no built-in fixed set of names, meaning you can use any tags you want.
In most environments, a standard set of tags will be defined and required (policies can help enforce) that provide the data required in the organization for identification, tracking, operational tasks, billing (remember, this is a big use for granular cost accumulation), indexing (you can search and filter based on tags), and more.
