Managing desktop pools with PowerCLI

The Horizon View PowerCLI provides a number of different commands that the administrators can use to provision and administer desktop pools. Many administrative tasks can be performed using PowerCLI, which enables administrators to build their own scripts in order to automate common tasks.

How to do it…

We will need to determine the configuration that we will use for our desktop pool. The different options are described in greater detail in the How it works... section of this recipe.

How it works…

The following options are supported when creating desktop pools using PowerCLI. Options that are specific to linked-clone desktop pools or virtual desktops are indicated:

  • The AllowMultipleSessions option: This specifies whether a single user can have multiple concurrent client sessions within the same desktop pool. This setting only applies when using floating assignment pools.

  • The AllowProtocolOverride option: This specifies whether users can override the default...
