Performance charts can be displayed using the vSphere Client connected to either an ESXi host directly or a vCenter Server or by using the vSphere Web Client. Overview performance charts display performance statistics that are most useful to quickly diagnose problems and monitor performance. An advanced performance chart provides a more detailed graphical display for an object's statistical data. The esxtop and resxtop commands enable command-line monitoring for real-time ESXi host resource usage for each of the core four resources: CPU, memory, network, and disk. The esxtop and resxtop utilities are available in interactive, batch, and replay modes.

An alarm is a notification in response to a selected condition or event for an object in the vCenter Server inventory.
