Summary

In this chapter, we discussed at length what SCVMM brings to the table with regard to Hyper-V host/guest security. We also reviewed how network virtualization and some of the new features of the Hyper-V Extensible Switch allow us to fully separate out multi-tenant environments across the same physical network fabric. This includes identical subnets across tenants. Finally, we discussed the use of the Windows Azure Pack for management of on-premise private clouds and the best practices involved in hardening that utility against attacks.

In the next chapter, we'll discuss System Center App Controller, which, like the Azure Pack, sits on top of SCVMM to provide enhanced management capabilities. Many of the same basic security concepts for web applications discussed in Chapter 7, Hyper-V Security and System Center VMM, can also be applied to Chapter 8, Secure Hybrid Cloud Management through App Controller and can also App Controller, so keep this in mind as you read on.
