With XenApp 6.5, Citrix introduced a new component, the Universal Print Server. This component eliminates the need to install numerous network printer drivers on XenApp worker servers, and it provides features such as image and font caching, advanced compression, optimization, and Quality of Service (QoS) support, which are not available in the Windows Print Provider.
To use the Universal Print Server, install it from the XenApp installation DVD on your printer servers and enable it via Citrix policies, as shown in the following screenshot:

Citrix installs a universal printer driver, which supports the public device-independent settings defined by Microsoft.
