In this chapter, we will take a closer look at how Orchestrator interacts with vCenter Server and vRealize Automation (vRA—formerly known as vCloud Automation Center, vCAC). vRA uses Orchestrator to access and automate infrastructure using Orchestrator plugins. We will take a look at how to make Orchestrator workflows available to vRA.
We will investigate the following recipes:
Unmounting all the CD-ROMs of all VMs in a cluster
Provisioning a VM from a template
An approval process for VM provisioning
Working with the vCenter API (to change VM's HA settings)
Standard vSwitch and Distributed Switch ports
Executing a program inside a VM
Configuring a vRA instance in Orchestrator
Configuring an external Orchestrator in vRA
Adding an Orchestrator endpoint
Integrating Orchestrator workflows in vRA
Managing AD users with vRA
