The Horizon View software client

The Horizon View Client is a software application that gets installed onto the end user's device, which allows them to log in and connect to their virtual desktop machine. Once logged in, the View Client displays the screen from the virtual desktop machine located in the data center onto the screen of the local client device.

The client software is available for the following platforms:

Microsoft Windows
Apple Mac
iOS
Android
Linux

Downloading the Horizon View Clients

The Horizon View Clients are available on the VMware download page at http://tinyurl.com/q2o98kh.

In our example, we are going to download the View Client software and save it in the shared folder.

Note

One thing to note is that the Horizon View Client software has a different release cycle from the main Horizon View software, which means that the clients are released on a more frequent basis and you don't have to wait for a full Horizon View release to take advantage of new client-based features.
