The vCloud Air networking components

Networking is a key aspect and function of any cloud provider. A properly designed and implemented network in a cloud is essential for better performance and the security of your overall infrastructure.

VMware vCloud Air provides the same level of networking technologies and services that you would find in a traditional hosting or a datacenter provider; the only minor difference being that most of these services are provided in a software form rather than the conventional hardware. This concept is commonly referred to as Software Defined Networking, or SDN in short, and VMware leverages it to create and provide software-based networks in vCloud Air.

Apart from the standard VMware vSphere and vCloud Director software, the following VMware products and solutions work together to provide the SDN functionality in vCloud Air:
