In this chapter, we learned about the importance of having a tested and implemented disaster recovery and business continuity plan. We also learned a bit about the traditional disaster recovery model and its drawbacks; we learned how the cloud has changed the entire DR paradigm by providing faster, cheaper, and more efficient DR services. Next, we explored VMware vCloud Air's Disaster Recovery service, its key features and benefits. We also saw how easy it was to set up virtual machine recovery and data replication to VMware vCloud Air using vSphere Replication and Data Protection. Last but not the least, we learned a few essential best practices that you should always keep in mind when designing and building your very own disaster recovery solution.
