The next module is Scripting and APIs, where you will learn Scripting in ServiceNow and use powerful APIs to develop applications. Introduction to ServiceNow

While the events are triggered from scripts or workflow when a form field is updated, each event needs to be registered in the Event Registry within the platform. An event registry is a list of all the events that might be triggered from any of the sources and that are available for the handler to monitor.

Registering events

The following steps show you how to register a new event:

  1. Open the Create Application File wizard in Studio and, as shown here, select Server Development | Event Registration and click on the Create button:
  1. Now fill in the new record form for Event Registration with the following values:
    • Suffix: assigned_to_changed
    • (Suffix must not contain any spaces)
    • Event name: x_8940_travel_book.assigned_to_changed

(The value of the Event name field will be automatically generated once we populate the suffix, and just like the Suffix field, the Event name also cannot contain any space).

    • Table: Booking Request
    • Description: Send email notification when assigned to field is changed
