Introduction to ServiceNow

Workflow activities


Let us now go through some of the most important core activities available in the ServiceNow platform. These core activities can be used in any workflow and one workflow can reuse the same core activity multiple times. An instance of the activity is created when we add it to the workflow.

The core activities provided by ServiceNow can be used to perform many different tasks, such as running a script, triggering an event, waiting (listening) for an event, logging a message, invoking rest calls, sending notifications, creating tasks, or requesting approvals.

The approval and rollback activities, as shown here, are available only for tables that extend from the Task table. If the table doesn't extend from the task table, then all the activities exceptApproval - User and Approval Action are grayed out and not available:
