Appendix A. Sample Business Continuity Plan

The following is an example Business Continuity Plan. If you have never written one, then you may want to use this one as a starting point and adjust it to your needs. This plan is comprised of several sample plans found on a variety of websites, including www.itil.org and www.drj.com (Disaster Recovery Journal). These websites contain extremely valuable information with regard to DSR and BCP in general. I strongly suggest that you check them out.

The following BCP is a proven design that has been used in larger corporations, and even though you may not need all of the sections, it is good to use as many as you can, and familiarize yourself with terms and formatting. This sample is geared towards Active Directory as an authentication service and the domain in question is nailcorp.com

PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide a description of the continuity for the Global Authentication and domain logon service in case of server failure or other technical emergency.

The most important consideration regarding this document is that life comes before material assets. Human life is the first priority in any disaster or emergency situation.
