IBM WebSphere provides a tool to help with tuning and it is called TPV. This tool is embedded in the Administration console. For a quick recap of history, for Version 4.0 of WebSphere, TPV was originally named the Resource Analyzer. For Version 5.0, TPV was implemented as a standalone Java application. In Versions 6.0.x and onwards, TPV is embedded in the Administrative console and provides a graphical display for showing live activity using a Scalable Vector Graphics ( SVG) viewer from Adobe.
By using TPV, you can view summary reports, or log Performance Monitoring Infrastructure ( PMI) performance data in real time. You can also save logging data as XML files. You can later play-back the logged data (saved XML files) through the TPV viewer to see what happened during a recorded logging session over a particular time period.
