Summary


As we discovered throughout this chapter, the role of Mailbox in Exchange 2013 has undergone some great changes and it now hosts all the protocols and components that store, process, and render user data. Exchange 2013 improved the technology behind DAGs, making it more robust, fast, and resilient. By combining it with Windows Server 2012 Dynamic Cluster, administrators can further extend the capabilities of DAGs to allow more nodes to fail without bringing the entire cluster offline.

Other new features such as Automatic Reseed were also introduced; they allow administrators to increase the level of availability provided by any Exchange deployment, from a single to a multi-server environment.

We also had a look at the new Managed Store, the much improved modern Public Folders, and the Offline Address Book. All of these new or enhanced features take Exchange's high availability to a new level. However, proper attention is required in order to ensure everything is configured to make...
