Enabling a DPM server to be a secondary DPM server


This recipe will cover how to enable the DPM-DPM-DR scenario, which means enabling the secondary DPM server feature, so that you can build a disaster recovery site for your organization or company.

Getting ready

In the scenario that your datacenter needs additional protection from a disaster recovery scenario, you can provide protection in numerous ways. One way is to provide a secondary DPM site where your production data can be located in the scenario of a disaster of your primary datacenter.

There are two different approaches that a secondary DPM sever could be used for:

  • Chaining

  • Cycling

The chaining approach is the traditional primary secondary DPM server approach, where the primary DPM server is the dedicated primary protection for all datacenters and locations.
