Configuring e-mail notifications


This recipe will cover how to configure your DPM server e-mail notifications.

Getting ready

Providing information regarding the current status or historical information with DPM reports, is very important to companies and organizations. System Center Data Protection Manager has the ability to provide this, but it is not recommended to forward DPM alerts to an e-mail recipient, since DPM will send a large number of e-mails.

If you want to have a proactive monitoring or an extended reporting experience, you should install System Center Operations Manager, since this is a Microsoft tool that will fit this need.

How to do it...

In the DPM console, click on Options to open the options window for the DPM server. You have six different tabs for options:

  • Notifications

  • Alert Publishing

  • Customer Feedback

  • End-user Recovery

  • Auto Discovery

  • SMTP Server

Click on the tab SMTP Server and specify the SMTP server settings. Enter the following information:

  • SMTP server name
