Protecting a SharePoint farm


This recipe will cover the information that you need to understand the prerequisites for a supported SharePoint server protection scenario.

Getting ready

Before you start creating the protection group that holds the actual configuration for the protected data sources, you have to fulfil the following prerequisites:

  • The SharePoint Server you would like to protect should be a supported version for DPM protection

  • A DPM agent should be installed on all the servers that are members of the SharePoint farm

  • The DPM agent should report OK in the DPM console management workspace

How to do it...

  1. Go to Protection and click on New in the DPM console.

  2. In the Welcome step of the Create New Protection Group wizard, click on Next > to continue. In the Select Protection Group Type step, choose Servers and click on Next > to continue.

  3. In the Select Group Members step, you should expand you frontend web server and check the checkbox next to your SharePoint farm. Click on Next >...
