Before you install VUM, you need to decide whether to use an existing or separate database server or use the installer-packaged SQL Express. The installer-packaged SQL Express is only recommended for nonproduction environments. Most environments will already have a DB server hosting other databases. You could either choose to host the VUM database on the existing DB server or install and configure a new DB server.

Select Solution/Database Interoperability. In step 1, select the product as VMware vCenter Update Manager, Version as 5.5, and in step 2, which is the Add Database step, add any database as needed.
