Restoring a VDS configuration


The fact that we can create a backup of a VDS enables the ability to restore its configuration from a backup. The restore functionality is particularly useful when the changes made to a VDS have yielded undesired results.

Getting ready

Since the restore is done from an existing backup, make sure you have the VDS backup ZIP archive handy.

How to do it…

The following procedure explains how to restore the VDS configuration:

  1. Right-click on the VDS and navigate to All vCenter Actions | Restore Configuration to bring up the Restore switch configuration wizard.

  2. In the Restore switch configuration wizard, click on Browse to locate and select the VDS backup ZIP archive.

  3. Choose between Restore distributed switch and all port groups or Restore distributed switch only and click on Next to continue, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. Review the Import Settings section on the Ready to complete screen, and click on Finish to initiate the restore operation.
