Network layer components and configuration


The network layer is the first layer involved in the process of the user connecting to virtual desktops from the external network. We'll start with the URL that is used to launch the XenDesktop StoreFront store URL and cover till the user access reaches the virtual desktop located on a corporate internal network.

In most large enterprises, all of these networking activities are handled by a specialized network team and these fall out of the XenDesktop administrator's scope. Having the functional knowledge of these components enhances your understanding and eases isolating any network-related operational issues.

External networking

Unlike intranet access, external access requires a URL formed with a proper domain name followed by a URL path that will resolve to the NetScaler Gateway. This external access requires the following components to be properly set up and verified:
