Summary

The primary focus of this chapter was to secure the Microsoft network infrastructure and components by using Microsoft tools and methods. We have achieved this by configuring RODCs for an existing Active Directory domain, securing DNS and DHCP using various methods, eliminating the service account password administration and risk by using Group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA), and by implementing a solution to mitigate application vulnerabilities using Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET).

In the next chapter, I will introduce a new and secure access control mechanism for data and file servers. The next chapter will provide some insight into Dynamic Access Control (DAC) methods, implementation, and configuration details.
