Choosing the right client device

The subject of choosing the end user's client device often gets overlooked, but if you are looking to replace an existing PC estate with thin or zero clients, there are a few things that you need to be aware of when selecting the appropriate device.

The client device should reflect the use case for the users. While a zero client is an attractive option due to the lower management overheads, this type of device is hardware-based and therefore may not be able to support some of the features and functionality that the user requires. For example, some of the multimedia functions and unified communications solutions require specific elements that are only present in a full operating system. Codecs are a good example of this.
