Overview of this book

Citrix® XenApp® is one of the leading pieces of Application delivery software that delivers Windows compatible apps to users on any device, anywhere. Citrix® XenApp® also gives administrators the ability to manage and control the freedom of mobility by increasing the security and saving costs at the same time. Why XenServer®


According to Citrix and other lab tests, XenServer is the most effective hypervisor that can be used to deliver the best-in-class application and desktop delivery. GPU virtualization increases graphic performance; new 64-bit kernel, which improves networking and storage performance; and workload geo-tagging to restrict the work load to run in the particular location for security reasons.

Installing the XenServer® host

In this book, we will be using XenServer 6.2. If you want to know more about this feature, you can go to http://www.citrix.com/products/xenserver/overview.html, and download the media files from www.citrix.com/xenserver.

Before we begin to install XenServer, let's take a look at some of the system requirements:

  • The hardware must support HVM (Intel-VT or AMD-V enabled)

  • Minimum 4 GB memory required

  • At least 36 GB hard disk

  • At least one network card
