Creating a database view


Service-now provides system tables in which the data is stored and the product also provides a facility to create a custom table for a custom application, but it is worth to note that most of tables refer to each and other. On many occasions, clients ask for reports which are hard to get from a single table or a reporting module. In such a case, you can use the database view to connect more than one table to get the desired report. In this recipe, you will learn to create a database view.

Getting ready

For this recipe, you need an active service-now instance, valid credentials, and an admin role.

How to do it...

  1. Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer).

  2. Type the instance web address in the address bar.

  3. Log in to the Service-Now instance using the credentials.

  4. In the left-hand search box, type database view but Database Views module is not available under the reporting module and only available for admins. Click on Database views module under...
