We started this chapter with by looking at three interesting tools that NSX offers to allow us to efficiently and thoroughly monitor and analyze our environment. Activity Monitoring is a tool that gives us a visibility of applications. Remember to have VMware data security and guest introspection services deployed before using these tools. Also, Activity Monitoring is supported only on Windows virtual machines. You will also need to enable guest introspection in the VMware tools. We then looked at the virtual machine activity report followed by Flow Monitoring. We ended the chapter by looking at the traceflow tool to identify network issues. This tool allows us to have end-to-end packet trace visibility.
In the next chapter, we will look at the operational management of our NSX environment. We will look at how to back up NSX Manager and set up syslog servers, controller cluster actions, and many more.
