In this recipe, we will upgrade VCM in place, meaning we will do a regular upgrade without changing the OS underneath. If you want to change the OS underneath, have a look at the following recipe.
To start with this activity, you must have all the user accounts in place, and they must have permissions as described in the Service accounts subsection under the Understanding the requirements of VCM recipe in Chapter 1, Installing VCM. You must have a user apart from the service account, which may be your own account, with admin privilege on the VCM Collector server.
If you are using a physical server, then take a backup of the server with the tool you are using in your infrastructure; otherwise, if that Collector server is a virtual machine, take a snapshot of the VM.
Take a backup of the databases (Excel VCM_Raw
