Introduction


ESXi provides several mechanisms to configure and adjust the allocation of CPU, memory, and network and storage resources to the VMs running on it. If you create additional storage capability, configurations can have a significant impact on VM performance.

In this chapter, we will discuss the guidelines for resource allocation settings, such as shares, reservation, and limits. We will also discuss guidelines for the DRS algorithm and resource pools. Some of the advanced storage concepts will also be unveiled.
