Filling in the Service Request Description with User Input from the Request Offering


In SCSM 2016 every User Input in a Service Request in the SCSM 2016 Self-Service Portal can be mapped to a property of the Service Request or a property of the related activities (for instance, related Review or Manual Activities). There is no option to do a multi-mapping of different User Inputs mapped to one property.

There is a solution available to you to solve the multi-mapping issue. To solve this requirement, a PowerShell script can be used to write the full User Input of a Service Request into the Description field.

Getting ready

A Service Request must be submitted in SCSM 2016 before we start. The required steps to create a Service Request are described in the Working with Service Requests in the Self-Service Portal recipe in this chapter. We need the ID of the created Service Request; in our example, it is SR453. If you would like to run the PowerShell script remotely (not on the SCSM 2016 management...
