Ansible was originally created to fully provision VMs in the cloud (and on premises), but slowly, it is gravitating toward configuration management as more modern tools, such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm, are increasing their market share, leveraging Docker into the full software development life cycle in a continuous delivery environment.
