As you have already learned, a device template is a collection of graph templates and data queries. Let's create a device template for an SNMP-enabled CentOS server now.
Cacti comes with a very small number of host templates for general use only. To reduce some manual work, you want to create your own host template. Let's look at how to create one for the CentOS system:
- Go to
Templates
|Device
and click theAdd
link. - Enter
SNMP Enabled Cent OS Server
as theName
for this host template. - Click
Create
. - Two additional sections will show up. At the
Associated Graph Templates
section, select yourHost - Running Processes
template and clickAdd
. - At the
Associated Data Queries
, addSNMP - Get Mounted Partitions
,SNMP- Get Processor Information
, and theSNMP - Interface Statistics
data query. - Click the
Save
button:
