Network infrastructure considerations and planning


The most important aspect of planning this type of deployment is realizing how it will affect your network. As you may recall from Chapter 2, Planning a Unified Remote Access Deployment, one of the primary design considerations is the routing. When a URA client connects to a site, the routing on the URA server will determine where packets are going to be sent to, and if you are not careful, problems could arise. A simple example of such a problem could be a situation where the URA server doesn't have the appropriate routes, and traffic destined for certain target networks or computers would simply be discarded. A more complicated one is if the routes are inappropriately set, causing the traffic to get to its destination indirectly, which could result in slow performance, or over-utilization of your network.
