Those people who are cautious about migrating to Solaris 11 may be equally as cautious about upgrading (or even using) the ZFS version already available to them on their production systems, and so might be unaware of the pending goodies that await them.
Having been in this category myself for sometime, I know how the routine goes—glance over the new stuff once to know what other people are talking about, but then ignore it. For this reason, even though some of the functionality mentioned in this chapter is not strictly new to Solaris 11, it will be covered here.
If some of the features here intrigue current Solaris 10 users, it is nice to know that most of them are available in Solaris 10 by fully patching it to MU10. The amount of hassle required to get there, however is almost equivalent to doing a full OS upgrade, so you may want to just plan a full upgrade anyway.
It is also important to realize that just applying patches does not in itself always give you new ZFS...
