Chapter 5. Advanced Content Management

Another big change in Configuration Manager is the introduction of the content library. The content library is used to store content on your distribution points for applications, packages, driver packages, software update packages, and much more. This introduction enables smarter management of the space required to store your content and includes the use of single instance storage.

In order to reduce the number of secondary sites required in Configuration Manager over the previous versions, the distribution point now uses a sender. This would have been only on secondary sites in the previous versions.

Cloud computing has also changed the way organizations work recently. Configuration Manager also contains functionality to create distribution points, which are in Windows Azure. We will cover the following topics in this chapter:
