Deploying an App-V package via MSI


Through using Electronic Software Distribution in addition to deploying packages through the App-V Management console, it is possible to use Microsoft Group Policy Objects to deploy the Microsoft Scripted Installer (MSI) for a package, which is automatically generated by the sequencer.

A key advantage of this deployment method is that you do not need to maintain an App-V Management server or Publishing server.

This recipe will show you how to use this method to deploy App-V Packages.

Tip

Note that you still need the App-V client installed on the machine that you wish to target with this method of deployment.

Getting ready

To complete the steps in this recipe, you need to create the Audacity website's shortcut App-V package explained in Chapter 3, Sequencing Applications.
