Modifying settings remotely by using the MMC or Windows PowerShell Remoting


In order to be able to remotely manage settings on a remote computer using the MMC, it is required to make the appropriate Windows Firewall settings (see the Configuring Windows Firewall section earlier in this chapter) on the remote computer. In contrast, in the case of Windows PowerShell Remoting, you must first enable the Windows Remote Management service by running the winrm quickconfig command (see the Configuring Windows PowerShell Remoting chapter lab later in this chapter) and then enable Windows PowerShell Remoting (see the previous Enabling Windows PowerShell Remoting section). The following sections will show how to modify settings remotely by using the MMC or Windows PowerShell Remoting.
