Summary

In this chapter, we reviewed many of the database options available in AWS. We started by revisiting a brief history of databases. We then explored how databases can be classified, and then we explored the different types of databases and when it's appropriate to use each one. Finally, we delved into the difficult task of deciding which is the right database service for individual projects. Amazon offers so many database services that it truly makes it a challenge to decide what service to use in individual cases. But that's where you come in, and hopefully you feel much more empowered after reading this chapter.

Finally, we discussed how to decide on the right database for individual projects and the considerations to make this choice a success.

In the next chapter, we will learn about the services that AWS offers to optimize your network, as well as best practices for content delivery.
