Big data was what drove our monitoring conversation in the previous chapter. First off, we introduced the concept of big data and different areas thereof, including ETL and data analytics. Then we talked about the AWS services that are used for big data work and data analytics. Then we drilled down into the core focus, which is monitoring for these services and the major metrics we should always keep our eyes on when using these services. We talked about storage a little bit, but did not go into detail. This chapter will help us do just that.
