As we will again be discussing both OData and JSON messages, I would like to remind you of some of the helpful online validation and formatting tools available:

  • JSONLint (https://jsonlint.com): This is one of many JSON online validators that will not only check your code for errors but also prettify the code, indenting it into a normal JSON structure.
  • JSON Formatter (https://jsonformatter.org): This is also a very useful online site that will format, beautify, but also minify your code, should you need to store it all on one line. The site will also convert your JSON code to CSV, YAML, and XML formats.
  • The JSON Schema tool (https://jsonschema.net/home): This is a great site for generating a JSON schema file, which explains the structure of your JSON message. The schema generated is a full, formal schema so there are quite a lot of elements you don't need, but if you are interested in all possible options that could be stored in the message...
