Discovering how to create NAS backup jobs

Now that we have completed the configuration of the file shares, we will go through how to configure jobs for each of the different file share types:

  • File servers: When you set up a file server for your organization and then add it to Veeam Backup & Replication, you can back up the entire server using Microsoft VSS writer snapshots.
  • NFS shares: When you deploy a NAS device, you can set up NFS shares on it, which can then, in turn, be backed up.
  • SMB (CIFS): Also available on NAS devices when deployed, and you have the ability to back up.

To begin the backup process, take the following steps:

  1. You need to create a backup job, and this can be done from the INVENTORY tab and under the File Shares section of the Veeam Backup & Replication console:

  2. From here, you select the CREATE BACKUP JOB option on the right side of the screen...
