Setting up an S3 object storage repository for use with a scale-out repository

Object storage within Veeam Backup & Replication gets used for archiving data that requires longer-term retention and typically for long periods. Veeam Backup & Replication version 10 introduced some new enhancements to the object storage repository:

  • Backup import: All backups in an object storage repository can now be imported with the click of a button, similar to how local file backups get imported. This process allows for easy restore should a disaster happen, allowing you to start restoring from backup copies that are within the object storage.
  • S3 operation performance improvements: The rescan and retention processing now has multithreading, which enhances speed significantly.
  • Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and AWS support: Backups created by Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and AWS can be registered with on-premises servers as external repositories, which allows the restoration...
