Using MIME/SMIME pipeline components


Out of the box, BizTalk provides several pipeline components to be used when creating a pipeline. These components are available inside the Visual Studio Toolbox. Two of these components are called the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions/Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME/SMIME) Decoder pipeline component and Encoder pipeline component.

The first component can be used for decoding and decrypting (MIME/SMIME) encoded messages and verifying digital signatures of signed messages. The second is used to encode and encrypt outgoing messages and sign these messages. These pipeline components can be inserted in either the encoding or the decoding stage of a pipeline and aid in encoding or decoding a message:

  • The encoding pipeline component is used on outgoing messages. It enables you to encode, encrypt, and sign these messages. This is useful when you want to initiate a secured document interchange between the BizTalk Server and external partners...
