DFI Supporting Materials

Achieving a good response rate on a survey often depends on how it is introduced and by whom it is introduced. Before sending out the DFI survey to colleagues in your organization, consider who the recipients will see as the sender and when is a good time to gather an interested (or even captive) audience. The first few minutes of a town hall meeting or a weekly team meeting might be an ideal time to achieve a high response rate. Below is a sample introductory e-mail for the appropriate team member to use when sending out the DFI.

In this section we have also included a data literacy quiz to be used by your human resources team in the evaluation of job candidates. We have found that asking someone if they are data literate typically gets an affirmative response; the data literacy quiz can be used as part of the interview process to validate a candidate’s general data skills.
