Using Hunspell as a stemmer


Solr supports numerous stemmers for various languages. You can use various stemmers for English, and there are ones available for French, German, and most of the European languages. But sometimes they provide stemming results that are not of great quality. Alternatively, maybe you are wondering if there is a stemmer out there that supports your language, which is not included in Solr. No matter what the reason, if you are looking for a different stemmer you should look at the Hunspell filter if it suits your needs, and this recipe will show you how to use it in Solr.

Getting ready

Before starting, please check the http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries page to see if Hunspell supports your language.
