Performing Metadata Management tasks


The second tool available in Information Steward after Data Insight is Metadata Management.

The Metadata Management tool is used to collect metadata information from various systems in order to get a comprehensive view of it and to analyze the relationships between metadata objects.

In this recipe, we will take a look at the example of using Metadata Management on our Data Service repository, which stores the ETL code developed for recipes of this book.

Getting ready

As with Data Insight, we have to first establish connectivity to the Data Services repository. This is usually an administration task that can be done in CMC in the Information Steward | Metadata Management section. Click on Create an integrator source and fill in all the required fields, as shown in the following screenshot, to define a connection to Data Services repository for the Metadata Management tool:
